WHAT ARE WE PROPOSING?
We are submitting proposals for a new, modern sports centre. This will comprise of a new sports centre and gymnastics facility, a new outdoor athletics track, updates to the existing grass pitches, upgrades from the 2G pitch to a 3G pitch and a new car park.
The proposal forms a key part of Ipswich Borough Council’s aim to provide modern, carbon-neutral community-based sports facilities as set out in the Sport and Leisure Facilities Strategy which was adopted at the June 2022 Executive Meeting.

WHERE IS THE SITE?
The proposed development will be located at the existing Gainsborough Sports Centre site.
The new Sports Centre will be constructed close to the existing Centre, on the same site, therefore allowing the existing Centre to remain open until the new Centre is complete.
